So far, doesn't work at all

I have tried real birds, outside, and a selection of my own and other professional recordings. The only thing SongBird does is to ask me to record again. It never gives any indication that it is actually 'hearing' anything at all, and why does it require access to my camera?
Altogether, very disappointing and, so far, a complete waste of money. Thank you very much.

Hi Ray sorry about this!
Why isn’t Songbird working?
We analyze the energy peaks within sound and compare various 2D & 3D sound models ( spectrograms ) with our training data. The issue is that we still have to account for 2 dimensional frequency as it relates to variating bird accents.
Birds have accents. Generally, when you hear Adele singing “Hello” over a speaker in a Target in Minnesota and then a few months later hear Adele sing "Hello" over a speaker in a Walmart in Florida, it's the same song. However, a cardinal in Minnesota is going to sound different than a cardinal in Florida.
Also when a song is playing, there’s usually only one song going on at a time. How many times is there just one species of bird singing at a time?
We are seeing a change in the performance and we are literally working right now to address this.
Secondly the app was designed to #1 not give off false positives we could simply present you with a bird from a random list if we do not know but that wouldn’t be factual, as to ux informing you about what’s happening we are working on an update once we get our computation engine running more accurately. Stay tuned!
